Manuela Ramos is a feminist nongovernmental organization dedicated to improving the situation and position of women in Peruvian society. Their projects address the disadvantages and inequalities that women in rural areas face and their work focuses on political, economic, domestic and sexual rights of females. The department of CrediMUJER focuses on economic empowerment of females and specializes in microfinance, facilitating access to financial services, promoting savings and offering educational sessions to women.

Micro Insurance Academy

The Micro Insurance Academy (MIA) is a Delhi-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing technical assistance in microinsurance domain-knowledge to organizations that focus on low-income communities. With over 40 professionals including researchers, training specialists and development experts, the MIA is the largest microinsurance resource center globally.

MIA conducts evidence based research on microinsurance, and publishes extensively on various aspects of microinsurance. It also provides structured technical assistance to existing and new microinsurance units (MIUs), conducts specialist trainings, provides advisory services and engages in advocacy in a variety of areas linked to the development of the microinsurance sector internationally.

In order to integrate microinsurance with existing financial and social protection frameworks, the MIA works in liaison with partners from civil society, academia, bilateral and multilateral development agencies, the (re)insurance industry and national governments in several regions of the world.

Mumuadu Rural Bank

Country: Ghana

Mumuadu Rural Bank Limited (MRB) is a Community Development Financial Institution. The Government of Ghana introduced the rural banking concept in the early 1970s to offer financial intermediation to rural areas where financial services to the poor was non-existent. MRB was established in 1982 to provide services to the Mumuadu rural community. MRB currently operates six branches throughout the Eastern Region of Ghana.

ODEF is a Honduran development organization. Its financial arm, ODEF-OPDF, offers financial services to micro and small enterprises. It serves more than 20,000 clients through 24 offices in 9 departments. Its enterprise development arm, ODEF-OPD, focuses on improving socio-economic conditions of Honduran women and their families through technical assistance and capacity building.

Office of Population Studies at the University of San Carlos

The Office of Population Studies (OPS) was founded in 1971 by Dr. Wilhelm Flieger, a demographer trained at the University of Chicago. Since then, OPS has contributed to the development initiatives in the Visayas region and the Philippines by training researchers and conducting research in the areas of demography, health and nutrition, environment, gender and other socioeconomic issues. OPS promotes research of government programs and advocates better knowledge on population-related concerns. They have been funded by foreign and international agencies, such as USAID, UNFPA, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank.

PRISMA

PRISMA is Peruvian NGO that is dedicated to strengthening the resources of the poor and other vulnerable groups so that they themselves can achieve economic and social development. PRISMA has programs throughout Peru addressing many different aspects of development, including health and nutrition, agriculture, the environment, and local government. They boast a large and successful microfinance department operating in 11 different regions of the country and offering village banking loans, individual loans in the alternative development zone of Peru, and individual agricultural loans in Northern Peru.
