Beth Rhyne has been a leading thinker and writer on microfinance for two decades. One of my favorite microfinance books is her story of the evolution of financial markets in Bolivia, Mainstreaming Microfinance: How Lending to the Poor Began, Grew and Came of Age in Bolivia.
So it’s great news that her new book is out, Microfinance for Bankers and Investors: Understanding the Opportunities and Challenges of the Market at the Bottom of the Pyramid. The book combines analysis and case studies to make the arguments for investing in the sector.
In her book, Beth Rhyne demonstrates that providing financial services to the poor is a viable business prospect that allows investors to be socially and financially responsible. Microfinance for Bankers & Investors provides the readers with a road map showing where and how businesses can invest in greater financial inclusion, guided by the stories of companies already leading the way.
There will be book launch events in Washington DC and New York. Check them out.
